ONLINE LEARNING PROGRAMME

We are now offering a programme of live streamed online sessions bringing museum learning to your classroom.

PRIMARY SESSIONS

Take part in a range of activities investigating Anglo-Saxon and Viking objects from our galleries, design a coin and make an Anglo-Saxon inspired brooch.

Find out about food and drink, clothing, buildings, the games people played and the importance of mummification. Includes an Egypt themed craft of your choice.

Investigate buildings, sculptures, sports and entertainment, myths and legends and scenes from daily life on pots. Make a shadow puppet or an olive wreath for an Olympic winner.

Look at coins, sculptures, building materials and farming equipment and jewellery to learn more about life in Roman times. Make a bulla – a child’s lucky charm necklace.

Look at some wonderful landscapes, play painting I Spy games, do jigsawsand more, before creatingyour own landscape collage

Findout about the features of Islamic Art and Design and take part in print making inspired by objects from our collections.

ONLINE TEACHER TRAINING

FREE sessions tailored to your requirements can be delivered online as part of a teacher training module, subject department meeting or school INSET day.

Possible Themes: 

  • An introduction to the Ashmolean and ideas for using the collections in the classroom 
  • Using objects and artworks in classroom teaching 
  • Using museum collections for creative writing  
  • Practical approaches to exploring objects in the classroom as evidence about the past 

PRICING

Programme costs will vary depending on what you would like to do and how many classes, but our standard prices for online sessions are:

£35 for a short introduction

£75 for a 1 hour taught session

£100 for a bespoke session

Free for Oxford University Widening Participation and Access Groups and Special Schools
