BABY ASHMOLES
An Ashmolean Learning Case Study
The Baby Ashmoles pilot ran in Autumn 2017 and experimented with ways of delivering gallery sessions that included learning opportunities for both babies and adults. Designed to complement our existing preschool ‘Little Ashmoles’ term time sessions, Baby Ashmoles aimed to raise the profile of the Ashmolean Museum as a venue which actively welcomes and values visits from young families.
The pilot demonstrated a demand for baby sessions at the Museum. A second phase pilot is now testing out the feasibility of charging for these sessions, with a view to adding these as a permanent fixture to our families programme.
The project was funded by the Oxford University Museums Partnership Innovation Fund in 2017-8.
