IT Officer - Gardens and Museums IT Team

Grade 6: £28,098 - £33,518 p.a.

We are seeking a highly motivated IT professional to join the Gardens and Museums IT Team. The team delivers IT provision across the University’s four Museums (Ashmolean, History of Science, Natural History, and Pitt Rivers), and Botanic Garden and Arboretum, all together comprising 600 staff.

The IT Officer will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the general use of ICT across the Gardens and Museums in collaboration with the University IT Services Managed Desktop Support Service. You will troubleshoot user problems, install, upgrade and decommission computer-based technology, and in some areas act as first-line support and a point of reference for colleagues.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of managing IT systems in a service-oriented environment, a track record of delivering excellent customer service, and a good working knowledge of Windows, Mac desktops and mobile devices. Good organisational skills, self-motivation, patience with others and the ability to work as part of a team are also essential.

This is a permanent, full-time post based in Oxford.

Part-time IT Support Officer (Apple) - Gardens and Museums IT Team

We are seeking a highly motivated IT professional to join the Gardens and Museums IT Team. The team delivers IT provision across the University’s four Museums (Ashmolean, History of Science, Natural History, and Pitt Rivers), and Botanic Garden and Arboretum, all together comprising 600 staff. The IT Officer will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the general use of ICT across the Gardens and Museums, managing Apple Mac OS and iOS systems, and acting as first and second line support for users.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of managing IT systems in a service-oriented environment, a track record of delivering excellent customer service, and proven working knowledge of Apple Mac OS (desktop and server), iOS, Windows and mobile systems. Good organisational skills, self-motivation and the ability to work as part of a team are also essential.

This is a permanent, part-time post working 18.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE), based in Oxford.

Web Content Editor

Public Engagement, Ashmolean Museum, Beaumont Street, Oxford
Grade 4: £21,585 - £24,983 p.a.

The Ashmolean Museum and Bodleian Libraries are looking for a new Web Content Editor to create and edit engaging and regularly updated web content. The majority of the postholder’s day-to-day will be focused on Ashmolean Museum web content, though the role will also support the Bodleian Library audience development web activity. The Web Content Editor will work alongside communications teams at both institutions to help grow audiences.

You will source, schedule, create and deliver regularly refreshed web content, and create and edit images, audio and other media. You will also be required to monitor website content added by other editors to ensure it meets editorial guidelines and is up-to-date, as well as monitor and report on website analytics to help improve user experience.

You will be confident using content management systems and image editing software, and will have experience of writing and editing web content. You will also have an understanding of how websites can work alongside other means of communication. Good communications skills, the ability to collaborate effectively working across a variety of staff and sites, will be key to the success of this role. This is a rare opportunity to make an impact in two world-renowned institutions at a key point in their development.
