Choose from our extensive range of taught gallery sessions led by creative and experienced learning staff. Find out more about imaginative and cross-curricular approaches to teaching and learning with objects and paintings through our Take One programme. Booking is essential for all school visits.

Designed to cater for all learners’ needs, our primary programme also offers free school visits to our highly acclaimed exhibitions, opportunities for teacher CPD and downloadable online resources to support classroom based work.

We welcome and support special school groups and children with SEND integrated in mainstream schools. 

Our taught gallery sessions are planned as inclusive learning opportunities. Activities can be adapted for students with SEND if flagged up at the time of booking. This includes bespoke visits for children who are part of the Gifted and Talented programme.

We design and deliver bespoke visits for groups of students from special schools. We also deliver outreach sessions to children who can’t get to the Museum eg hospital schools.

We offer free pre-visit planning sessions for teachers to discuss their Museum visit. This includes exhibition previews.
 
We can design and deliver bespoke training sessions on a variety of topics including:

  • British Prehistory 
  • Other topics on request
We also deliver specially designed programmes each year for trainee teachers from a range of  institutions including Oxford Brookes University and local School Direct programmes.
