After the political freedom gained in 1947, Indian and Pakistani artists faced a particular challenge: how does one express the new nations’ distinctive characters?  The works on display introduce art movements in these two countries as places bursting with colour and show the newly emerging creative ideas in works by M. F. Husain, F. N. Souza and S. H. Raza.
